Job Description:

Job Duties

  • Must be certified by an accredited institution.
  • Provides accurate translation, both written and spoken for those patients requiring this service.
  • Assists in translating forms (i.e. Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Consent to Treat, Release of Information, Privacy Act, etc.) for use at all NHFHS service locations.
  • Serves as support and resource person for Front Desk and/or Scheduling personnel.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective, productive relations with co-workers, supervisors, patients, and the public.
  • Maintains daily patient appointment scheduling, answers incoming telephone calls, and retrieves medical records, as necessary.
  • Registers and/or updates patient demographic information into the patient’s accounting system as required.
  • Displays flexibility as patient flow changes.
  • Attends all in-service training as required.
  • Maintains a neat/well-organized work area.
  • Observes schedule for work, lunch and breaks.
  • Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence.

Experience and Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent and completion of Medical Interpreter/Translator Certification.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish.

Experience

  • Preferably two (2) years experience.
  • Effective oral communication skills.

Other Requirements

  • Has ability to speak and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients and the public.
  • Has knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Has ability to understand and follow in detail both verbal and written instructions.
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, patients, other agencies and the public.
  • Experience in a medical setting.
